The Rock Hotel is an institution in Gibraltar & indeed the Mediterranean. Built in 1932 by the Marquis of Bute, the hotel to this day still offers standards of service & guest care from that bygone, more genteel era. Decorated in colonial style the Rock offers 104 bedrooms which include a number of suites, junior suites & penthouses. The hotel enjoys a unique aspect in the Gibraltar with all rooms having magnificent views across the Bay of Gibraltar, the Spanish mainland & Rif Mountains of a Morocco .With an ambience that will please the leisure and corporate guest alike, the Rock Hotel truly is "an oasis in a busy world"

Lounges

The lounges are designed to make the very most of the magnificent views that the Rock enjoys. Afternoon teas, very much in the English style, are served here unfailingly each and every day with a shamefully high calorie count! Soft, squidgy sofas and armchairs are in abundance and can provide a welcome respite with a cool drink after a bustling day or a busy day at the office. Above all, these are areas where you can really feel at home..........away from home.

Guest Rooms

All guest rooms enjoy the luxury of a sea view, mini-bars, trouser presses, fully remote controlled air-conditioning and heating, satellite television and radio as well as facilities to make a fresh ground coffee when you want one. All rooms are non-smoking and two rooms have been adapted to facilitate disabled use.

Dining

Culinary styles absorb influences from both Iberia and north Africa as well as an obvious leaning to all that is good about modern British cuisine. Due to the strategic Mediterranean location and the abundance of seafood available right on their doorstep, you will find the best choice of local specialities here. The hotel’s main restaurant enjoys panoramic views across Gibraltar Bay, the Spanish mainland and Morocco's Riff mountains. It features a daily changing "house menu" as well as a full seasonally changing a la Carte selection that we hope will delight you. There is also an extensive range of conference, banqueting and private dining menus and of course the chef would be happy to design ad hoc celebratory or corporate menus to suit any budget. The wine list is varied and extensive whilst representing excellent value.

Bar

The Barbary Bar, which opens out on to the Wisteria Terrace, has been refurbished in a style that incorporates a blend of colonial, Iberian and Moorish influences which literally reflect its location within the hotel. Along with a fully stocked bar there is also a food menu from which guests can enjoy culinary delights that also reflect the geography and history from the sandwiches and steak pies to tapas and tagines! The service is efficient and courteous from members of staff who have been with the hotel for much of their working lives. Relax in wicker furniture, listen to the hum of the ceiling fans, sip your favourite tipple and think of Noel Coward. The Wisteria Terrace itself, which blossoms twice a year, really is the place to be on a summer's evening. The views are stunning and in particular from this end of the hotel the view to Africa on clear days is magical, feeling that one could almost "touch" Morocco. Drinks, snacks and light meals are served here and tapas are a speciality. There is a delightful selection of interesting wines by the glass and the bar staff will gladly mix cocktails from their list or to your own specification if you prefer. The Wisteria Terrace is an exceptionally wonderful place to hold small wedding receptions.

Pool

The swimming pool, which is open-air and of the seawater variety, sits in its own secluded garden away from the hustle and bustle. This area enjoys magnificent sunshine for the majority of the day and is a must for those seeking that Mediterranean tan. As well as the poolside there is a lawned area for those looking for that extra peace and quiet. There is a fully stocked bar and food is served throughout the day from an interesting and varied menu. There are barbecues and events throughout the summer months and the area is available for private functions in consultation with our wedding & events department. Please note that the pool is closed from 6th October until it re-opens on April 1st each year.
